Brief Answer:
depends on the condition being treated and the response

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I understand your concerns.

Hydrocephalus may be caused by various conditions, like infections or tumors. Shunt only reduces the pressure. Treatment of the underlying condition is most important. Unless that is controlled, sustained improvement will not be noticed.

As new paralysis has developed, most likely the drain is not enough. You should get in touch with her doctor to fix it. Some other medicines to reduce the pressure may be required.

Hope this helps.
Regards
