Question : Wife is taking three prescription meds for relief of pain for spinal stinosis. Scrips are for tramadol (50mg/6hrs, naproxen 500mg/2 per day, and metaxalone, 800mg/3per day. She has been taking these scrips since 8/25/15. She is going to Physical Therapy twice per week. She is experiencing an inability to focus on daily tasks and make decisions (she is 64yrs old and retirement is set for 12/1/2015) Could her medications be affecting her current mental state?
Brief Answer:
Possible side effect of medications she is taking...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through the medical history of your wife and am sorry for the situation she is going through.
As I was going through the meds she is taking, I can say drowsiness is one common side effect of all of them (tramadol, naproxen, metaxolone) making her feeling unable to run daily tasks.
If this side effect will go on and be unbearable; then, should discuss with the doctor who gave the prescription to change therapy.
Otherwise, nothing worrisome unless she would experience slow heart rate, shakiness, difficulty in breathing or fainting; then, should send to ER as soon as possible.
All the best!
