Brief Answer:
If the child is not able to sit on his own by 8th month,he needs assistance

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The first thing to ask you is whether the child was born preterm.

In case the child was born before the expected date of delivery, the number of weeks born earlier would need to be deducted to arrive at the corrected gestational age. If the child is unable to sit by the corrected age of 8 months, it will count as developmental delay. In such a case the child would require developmental support.

You can take the child to a centre having facilities of neurodevelopmental assessment and follow up. In New XXXXXXX you can take your child to XXXXXXX or Maulana Azad Medical College. After proper evaluation they would be able to start early intervention. They will demonstrate some simple exercises which you will have to make your child practice. This will help the child to catch up. Merely trying to make the child stand will not help.

The birth weight of a child is supposed to double by 5 months of age and triple by 10-12 months of age. If that is the case, you need not worry about the weight.

Hope that helps.

Regards
