Question: My name is XXXX and I m 19 week pregnant. I have been taking endogest 100 twice a daily started from 5th week and also taking thyronorm 100. I am still continuing this medicine but my tsh level hiked after blood test yesterday I.e. about 14.26 . i have never missed my dose but dr also don't understand why tsh level hiked? my doctor increased my dosage to 200 mcg and also to get the level check after 2 weeks and also told me to stop taking endogest. so I am worried about if I stop taking endogest will there be any complication in future because my TSH level is high and it takes some time to get in level. and I also want to know that is there any connection between hypothyroid and progesterone suppositories?

Continue thyonorm 200

Hello XXXX , welcome to Health Care Magic Forum. Thanks for writing in to us with your health query. I can understand your concerns . you can leave progesterone now , there will be no ill effect on progression of pregnancy and your doctor is correct to increase thyroid dose to double. There can be rise of TSH in pregnancy due to decrease in thyroid hormone levels. I hope I have answered your query. Regards Dr Manisha Jain.

Is there any connection between hypothyroid and progesterone suppositories ? I had low lying placenta in first trimester but in level 2 ultrasound report it shows that the lower segment free. So my concern is if I stop taking endogest will there be any chance of bleeding again ? Or if I continue endogest to whole pregnancy will it affect my baby ? What harm will occur in 2nd trimester due to increased tsh level ?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Raised TSH levels in second trimester can lead to increased risk of abortion and preterm labor and even some patients have increased incidence of separation of placenta from uterine surface.
So it is very important to replace thyroid hormone levels.
Also no need to continue endogest now as it is not needed to take it beyond 16 weeks.
Chances of bleeding are now minimal if placenta has migrated to upper segment and thyroid hormone is normal.
So you can now relax and just keep a regular follow up with your gynecologist.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Common but not always present

Detailed Answer:
I have seen the attached reports and understand that you are anxious about all this.
But it was prudent to inform you about the possibility of all the mentioned complications so that you are duely informed in future about all of them.
Your thyroid levels will surely normalize so don't worry and just keep a regular follow up with your gynecologist.
All the best.

after taking 200 mcg I feel like my anxiety has increased and feelling more dizziness. is increased dose creates the anxiety ? or do I have to go for another blood test to check the level of bp, sugar ? but sugar level fasting was 70 on 3 day before.

Brief Answer:
Change in dose needed

Detailed Answer:
Yes it is all due to increased dose but in case you are feeling anxiety and palpitations then decrease the dose to 150 mcg and see the symptoms.
In my opinion symptoms and TSH levels will get stabilize on this dose.
But it will be good to visit an endocrinologist before changing the dose and along with that get sugar levels checked too.
Take care.
