What Causes Increased Fasting Blood Sugar During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Oct 2015
Question: Hi ,
I am in the 6th month of my pregnancy and expecting 2nd baby. My fasting levels are more then the normal range. I tested 10 days back wherein my fasting was 113 and pp 119. Due to this doctor kept me on Glycophage-SR 500 medicine. She asked me to repeat the rest after a week. Today when I tested my fasting is 112 and pp is 115. This is inspite of regular walk, diet control and glyciphage intake. I am extremely worried what will happen next. Is my baby already overgrown and I deliver before time. Will doctor put me on insulin next? Am i permanently diabetic? I am just unable to control my anxiety and emotions. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Insulin last option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about high sugar levels.

Let me reassure you that you are not permanently diabetic.

These levels are marginally high which can be controlled by diet and exercise. Please see a disbetologist or endocrinologist for the same. Insulin will be last resort.

Baby would not have got affected do early. Please see a diabetologist for further control.

I don't think you should worry much about this.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Regards
