What Causes Increased Heart Rate After Cardiac Ablation Surgery?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: Hi, I am 50 years old. I underwent cardiac ablation on 4/17 for PAF and was released the next day. A little pain at the site but have been feeling great. I stayed on cardizem ER 120mg qday and my EP put me on Xarelto for one month. Today and yesterday my BP is fine but my HR is 85-100 resting and 115 if I just walk to the bathroom. Is this normal? I don't feel like I am in afib ( I will never forget what that is like.) As I have been on the couch for the last hour my HR is 96 at the time this is sent. I am drinking plenty of water and again my BP is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

After reviewing the data you provided I would like to reassure you that everything is normal. Your resting heart (85-100 bpm) is within the normal limits, although it's in the upper limits of the norm.

As long as you are symptom less you should continue with Cardizem and xarelto (as prescribed by your doctors). If the resting HR will be above 120 bpm I would recommend to increase the dose of Cardizem.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
