Question : This morning I notice that I wanted to get a cough and as the day went on it got worse later this evening I drank a bunch of cranberry juice and Gatorade and water but my ? Is when u r sick does ur heart rate go up its been at high 88-100 bpm should I bbe concerned and go to the hospital

1. Yes, the heart rate shoots up when there is an episode of fever and infections in the body; and, this is perfectly normal.

2. Cough could be due to various underlying causes, which need to be evaluated.

3. Also, the increased heart beat can be noticed in a condition called Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT). This happens when some medications are taken such as herbal supplements, cold remedies, drinking large amounts of caffeine/ alcohol/cold beverages, tiredness, stress, etc.

4. Do not worry! It’s absolutely normal. If you feel, there is chest discomfort or dizziness associated with increased heart rate, please consult your doctor immediately.
