What Causes Indentation On The Knee Of A Rugby Player?

Question: My son, 23 years old, rugby player, showed me that his left leg below his knee, shin area, indents when he presses down around it. We compared both legs but it only happens with the one leg. Just wondering if there is water inside causing the indentation. If so, what should he do?
Brief Answer:
This is pedal edema

Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.I think I may be able to make a difference.
I think I would suggest that you have a test - lower limb doppler. This test look at the vessels of the leg.
I think the problem is one of the 2-
1 the blood vessels of the limb are affected. We have to know why. This is where the doppler comes in.
2 there may have been a soft tissue injury. This is causing the swelling.
I think I would rule out the first condition.
