Posted on Mon, 18 May 2015
Question: Three days ago I fell and landed on my left buttock. Yesterday from my waist to the middle of my thigh on my left back side is a solid color of black and blue...very difficult to sit for very long. Should I be concerned and what can I do to speed up healing?

Brief Answer:
For now, add Tylenol to the above treatment measures!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this fall and the pain you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully. This is suggestive of contusion with possible blood leak into the skin which explains the blue/black discoloration. The resulting symptoms and pain as caused by an inflammatory reaction which is a normal occurrence after contusion.

In addition to ice, heat and Aleve, I will recommend that you ad tylenol. This is mainly to control the pain and healing would be gradual. Also, avoid as much as possible sitting on this side of the buttocks so as to accelerate healing.

For now, there are no reasons to be too concerned. Be calm and apply the above measures. Healing would be progressive. If anything else comes up, please do let me know and we would act and adjust treatment/recommendations accordingly.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
