Question: I bent down to pet my dog who was on the floor. As I was kneeling down I felt an intense pop mid right gluteal area that immediately made my right leg feel numb. I am not able bear weight while walking. I am a 38 year old mother that has had sciatic issues on left side but nothing like this

Brief Answer:
It seems to be sciatica on the right as well.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with this medical history,I would have told you about the possibility of sciatica on right side as well.Alternatively, this may be lumbo-sacral radiculopathy.
I would suggest you to get one MRI of Lumbo-sacral spine to get an exact diagnosis of the pathology.
Medicines including antineuralgics(pregabalin, gabapentin, amitriptyline or duloxetine),methylcobalamin, vitamin D/calcium and physiotherapy will help to improve the symptoms.

Hope that helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Brief Answer:
Its not normal. It should be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

No,Its not normal because it was associated with numbness in right leg.It may be a sciatica or L-S radiculopathy due to disc disease. That's the reason for which I said that you should get MRI of Lumbo-sacral region.Hope that helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
