What Causes Intermenstrual Bleeding?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Hi, I am 38 years old and have 2 children 11 and 9 yrs old. I have been regular in my periods (cycle 28 days) except for 2 occasions when I had some spotting between two periods about 7-8 months back. Also for past two times my cycle has reduced from 28 days to 21 days. I consulted the doc who prescribed Norethisterone 5 mg cycloreg twice daily for 21 days and asked me follow same medicine on 3rd day of my periods next time too. What could be the cause of this reduced cycle and how long is it safe to take this medicine? Will my cycle return back to normal after I stop this medicine?

Brief Answer:
take it for 3 cycles

Detailed Answer:
Hello I understand your health concerns.
There is nothing to worry as cycles tend to get irregular with passage of age.
Take the tablets as advised and your period will regularise after taking it for 3 cycles.
But in case it again stays short or irregular then you will need to get an ultrasound to see if there is any cause for the same.
Take care.
