Question : I have an intermittent burning pain in my lower back on my left side, close to my hip. I would say the intensity is about a 6 out of 10. When it occurs, it radiates partially down my leg and a little into my abdomen. My left testicle also gets sore. Movement does not seem to have an effect on the pain occurring, but when the pain is present, bending seems to aggravate it. Mornings when I wake up are worse, but when I go through the day, the instances become fewer. I've been drinking lots of water, thinking it may be a kidney stone, which seems to help.

Brief Answer:
Possible UTI to confirm by urine analysis/abdominal ultrasound as following

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Burning pain in lower back on left side radiating down to your leg and abdomen, involving your testicles that become sore are suggestive for possible urinary tract infection (UTI). You feel your testicle sore because the urinary pathways are close to the genital pathways in a male patient.

You can buy a deep-stick home testing for UTI at your pharmacy to see if there is UTI or not as you might need to start prescription antibiotics orally and/or any other prescription pain -killer (e.g. buscopan).

You might need an abdominal ultrasound too to evaluate your abdominal/pelvic organs too.

For the moment, I can advise to:
- continue drinking plenty of water
- take urinary alkalinizers (magnesium citrate) to optimize pH of the urine to ease the symptoms
- take fern stone tea or cranberry supplement

Wish fast recovery!
