Question: hi. I had a fever this morning of 39.6. I get these fevers quite often. the dr. gave me 2 Tylenol and sent me for some blood work. my hemoglobin was 106 but I was very dehydrated. after drinking lots of water my hemocue machine tested me at 95. I also have pneumonia but the specialist ordered a ct scan for my lungs - he isn't convinced it's just pneumonia as there are spots on my lungs.what do you think?

Brief Answer:
it may be broncho pneumonia or Tuberculosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
There are many causes for fever spikes and spots on lung.
The common ones are
1. Broncho pneumonia.
It is due to bronchial spread of infection. And gives patchy infiltration on chest x ray which can look like spots.
2. Milliary Tuberculosis.

This is due to extensive hematogenous spread of TB bacilli, which causes millet like rounded opacities in whole lung , these too appears as spot on chest x ray.

3. Nodular lung diseases like sarcoidosis, interstitial pneumonitis etc. In these round nodules are seen in lungs, which can give appearance of spot on TB.

4. Lung mass. Early lung mass can also be seen as spot on x ray.

So to rule out all these CT THORAX is needed.
So get done CT THORAX.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
