Question: Hi im having hot and cold flashes on and off fatigue also just want to stay in bed. Then sometimes i feel great and can get up and work out. No fever. 97 actually. My pee smells weird but no kidney or back pain

Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Based on your drug history and symptoms, it can be due to urinary tract infection. The likely cause of flushes and hot and cold sensations can either be because of chills associated with urinary tract infection and can also be due to antimuscarinic effects of drugs you are using including claritin or withdraw symptoms associated with off and on usage of escitalopram or Xanax. Claritin may induce urinary stasis and lead to increased susceptibility to urinary tract infections in few individuals.

You need to take a urinannalysis for puss cells and chemical analysis including glyscusuria, VMA and ketones for smelly urine. Also get blood screening for Hemoglobin levels and white cell count and bilirubin levels for any signs if hemolytic anemia or infections. Renal function tests will reveal creatinine and urea levels and assess any fluctuations in that. Also keep record of fever and blood pressure during such episodes. Drink alots of water and consult your GP for interpretation of these results and meanwhile keep claritin withheld.
