What Causes Intermittent Pain In Penis And Testicles?

Question: I have had intermittent penis and testicular pain since October. I have been tested for STDS and all negative. I went to a urologist and he did a full exam including checking prostititus and rectum as well as a normal physical exam. I have been on cipro for two weeks and really only had about three days of relief and now I'm back to ranging between soreness and slight pain. I'm a 21 year old engineering student that's very frustrated. I feel better when I excersise but that may be in my head.

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Intermittent penile and testicular pain may be related to urogenital diseases and conditions such prostatitis ( prostate infection), Peyronie's disease ( bending and scar tissue forming under skin of penis mainly from repeated minor trauma), bladder stones, urethritis ( infection of urethra) etc.

These conditions need imaging studies (urethrocystoscopy, urinary tract ultrasound), and lab tests in order to be evaluated correctly.

If these tests performed came back negative, then your problem is mainly psychological.

I think you should discuss with your treating Doctor these possibilities too.

If I had urethritis wouldn't the Cipro that I have been on for two weeks taken care of it?
I was checked for prostititus and am negative.
I have no abdominal pain and no urine issues

Urethritis or prostatitis are genitourinary infections caused by a number of bacteria, if so there is need to identify the exact bacteria in order to get proper treatment,

One possibility is Clamydia infection that needs special urine tests to be confirmed and it is not cured by Ciprofloxacin ( it is sensible to Doxacyclin).

You need the proper tests ( Uroculture, Clamydia) first in order to identify if there is a bacterial infection or not.

Treatment depends on tests findings.

If no infection, then there is more probably a condition related to psychological disfunction.
