What Causes Intermittent Severe Pain In Feet And Knees?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2015
Question: Hello, my name is XXXX and I am 31 years old. Lately, I have been having real bad pain in my feet and knees. I experience the pain especially when I am walking my dog first thing in the morning, or after sitting for long periods of time. Also, when I try to squat to pick up something from the floor, I feel intense pain in my knees. I don't know if this is early arthritis or if it has anything to do with the weather, since it is getting colder. Right now, I am just taking Glucosamine Chondroitin, but I know this will take some time for me to feel some benefits. Do you have any idea what I may be experiencing???? I hope you can help me.

Thanks for your time!

Brief Answer:
Look for vitamin D deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. As you are young so it is unlikely to be osteoarthritis( degenerative arthritis). As it is more in the morning and on resting so it can be reactive and rheumatoid arthritis. You need to go through investigations such as ESR,C reactive protein,Rheumatoid arthritis Test etc.
In my opinion you should first look for vitamin D deficiency. If found low you take vitamin D3 supplements. Vitamin D Deficiency is important cause of such pains. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Thanks for your response. I have also been experiencing heart burn more than usual. Are joint pain and acid reflux somehow related? Should I also continue taking glucosamine chondroitin, or replace this with a Vitamin D supplement? I am a healthy individual and I am not overweight.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D3 can be taken with glucosamine and chondroitine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
Acid reflux and joint pain are not related. For this you can take Omeprazole empty stomach. You can continue glucosamine and chondroitine along with vitamin D3. Dose of vitamin D3 in vitamin D deficiency is 60000 IU weekly(once in a week) for 10 weeks.
Everything else already discussed.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
