Brief Answer:
Neuralgic pain, gabapentine or pregabalin

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your query.

Since when you are facing these problem?
How many times in a day you experience these pain?.
Is there any redness, pain to touch on the affected area.?

I have gone through your clinical history regarding severe stabing pain behind the ear, it remains for a very short time. This typical history itself says that it is might be a nuralgic pain.
Nural pain is may be due to cervical spondylosis of upper cervical vertebrae. Osteophyts may irritate the nerve root to menifest this pain.It is diagnosed by local examination.
Other possible causes could be an ear infection, the temporomandibular joint dysfunction. In these conditions usually the pain is more persistent.
If persistent then medication like gabapentin or pregabalin are often used to prevent the pain.
MRI of cervical spine and good clinical examination can help in correctly diagnosing and thus planning for proper treatment.

Hope this helps.
Take care
