Question: For several hours I have been having intermittent stabbing pain in my left chest area. It comes and goes and I'm really unsure what to do

Hello,
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Any chest pain arising on left side of chest always gives suspicion of some heart problem.
Although there can be various reasons for a non heart pain in left side of chest and specially when there is no associated sweating or palpitation or squeezing feeling in chest or any radiation to arm or neck,it is always prudent to be safe and get the doubts about heart cleared by going to ER and getting the relevant test like EKG and ECHOCARDIOGRAM done.
Although you are not complaining  of any associated complaints like sweating etc as mentioned above,it would be better to go to ER and clear yourself.
