What Causes Intermittent Tingling Sensation In The Arm And Shoulder?

Question: I have had a tingling sensation on my right side along my right arm and shoulder off and on and a dull pain in the middle of my right shoulder blade for the last 7-10 days. I have been taking Tylenol off and on and that seems to help. I may have strained or sprained a muscle 10 days ago when I threw several large concrete blocks into a dumpster but that is about the only unusual activity I can recall and there was no immediate pain associated with that action. I am quite active and in good health overall for a 74 year old.
Brief Answer:
May be due to muscle sprain
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
The pain you are describing, along with the relation with the strenuous activity, most commonly is due to the strain. It is not necessary to have immediate pain. Along with tylenol, local application of pain gels and hot fomentation can help.
If it doesn't go in another week, I would suggest further evaluation with local x-rays or CT scans.
Hope this helps.

Is periodic tingling all along the shoulder and arm a "normal" symptom of muscle sprain? I have never ecperienced that sensation.
It comes and goes maybe 4-6 times per day and lasts 5-15 minutes.
Thanks, XXXX
