What Causes Intermittent Yellow Colored Vaginal Discharge?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: I have had a slight yellow colored vaginal discharge off and on for the past 2 months.. There is no odor and sometimes I have slight itching... I was on antibiotics back in April and that is when my problem began. Should I be concerned about the discharge or is this normal?

Brief Answer:
It can be due to fungal (yeast) infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thanks for trusting us about your health care.
I can understand your concerns.
I have gone through your history and in my opinion you are suffering from fungal ( yeast) infection.
As you are not having foul smell and itching( intense) there is no need of treatment right now.
You should maintain proper vaginal hygiene, drink a lot of water, eat healthy and nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables, do some yoga and meditation, add probiotics and curd in your diet.
You should wear loose fitting cotton undergarments.
If problem persist for after one week, you can take vagitab vaginal tablets for 5-7 days.
Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.
Good luck.
Regards

Myself and my boyfriend have not used condoms He assured me he doesn't have any std's... Do these symptoms sound like they could be due to an STD?? I notice the discharge is heavier and more pronounced if I've been working all day. I work in a kitchen and sweat a lot could this also be part of the problem!??

So even though I have a yellow discharge and some itchiness at times you do not believe this is due to an STD??

Brief Answer:
It can be due to other causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

I am not saying it is not due to STD infection but chances are low, it can be due to other causes like yeast( fungal) infection and bacterial vaginosis.
To rule out STD you should go for STD testing( that is very important) .
Hope it is useful.
Good luck.
