What Causes Irregular And Delayed Periods?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Jul 2014
Question: Hi im 26 and usually had irregular periods where id go months to a year without a period. I have been to a gynaecologist who has checked everything and i had a very thin uterus lining which was most likely the cause of the problem he said everything looks fine and i should conceive naturally without problems. I started the pill but forgot to take some then when remembered i would then i forgot to a few days i also had antibiotics for a toe infection. Well about 2 weeks in i got what i though was a real menstrual period because i had a bad aching back and bled light on first day and as the days cane it got heavier i cramped and it looked clotty and at times i needed to change pad often and it finished on cue on 7th day. I was wondering would i have experience a real life period or fake period and now that im getting clear mucous is that a sign of ovulation and can i get pregnant? My hubby and i really want a baby?

Brief Answer:
Clear mucus often signals ovulation!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am happy to hear that after a long time without periods you are able to report at least what very much sounds like periods. I hope this has come to stay and carry on for the rest of your life as you strive to get pregnant. I know the happiness pregnancy brings to a couple. I can only wish you well on this.

This may very much represent an ovulation but, remember that an ovulation is no guarantee for a pregnancy. Women with no menstrual and ovulation difficulties may go for as many as several months before ever becoming pregnant after trying very hard. This is to say that pregnancy is a game of luck and in no way respects or works according to rules. Someone may ovulate just once and get pregnant while others ovulate all their lives and have real difficulties getting pregnant.

If i were you, I would go on with trying my luck. All it takes at this time is unprotected sex hoping that if it is for real an ovulation and you are indeed lucky, you may get pregnant. But as I mentioned, please there is no guarantee as to who would get pregnant and would not even with a confirmed ovulation. This is the first experience after a very long wait and why not mark this as a positive start. Take the chances and hope for the best possible outcome and stay positive.

I hope this helps. I wish you both luck as you exploit your chances of becoming pregnant. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
