Question : Good evening Dr., I have friend, 50 year old caucasian female. Experiencing irregular heart beat, tingling sensations, dizziness and imbalance, and general weakness. She is currently in her local ER and being monitored, but has not gotten a diagnosis yet. Any idea what may be going on?

Hi,

Irregular heart beat with other symptoms can be because of a variety of causes.

It could be arrhythmia or just some normal ectopic beats. It will need an ECG for evaluation.

Sometimes the ecg can not catch the diagnosis because it just records 30seconds of heart rate. In that case, we put a 24hr ECG monitoring called Holter monitoring to make out a diagnosis.

If she had done the ECG please send me a copy of the same so that I can guide you further.
