What Causes Irregular Periods Post Ginette Withdrawal?
Question: I was on ginet for contraception for around 5 years. I have now come off and have been experiencing irregular periods since January 2015. never had this problem before starting the pill. could it be due to the ginet? I was unaware and never advised by my gp that it should be used for people with pcos which I never had. should I get some blood tests to check my hormone levels?

Well ginette is again a low dose oc pill which is being generally advised for PCOS patients for period regularisation and restoring hormonal balance but its a oc pill as well and contraceptive. Ideally on stopping the pills after prolonged usage the menses generally take around 3-4 months to settle back again in the normal regular rhythm and its normal and not a concern. If again the menses are between 23-35 days in the cycle then its normal and you need not worry unless the menses have been heavier and painful, then you may seek a hormonal profile and an ultrasound pelvis to look for any possible hormonal or organic cause.
