Question : Hi, I cleaned my ear with isopropyl alcohol (99%) about 4 weeks ago, I now have dark spots everywhere I wiped with a piece of cotton inside of my ear where it was irritated... How can I fix this? My ears look dirty with these black spots - almost the size of your pores in your ears

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having dissolve ear wax in ear & Inflamed skin of ear canal (diffuse otitis externa) due to use of isopropyl alcohol (99%).

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice you consult ENT specialist as soon as possible & get ear cleaning done under microscope with suction machine .

Till then, keep ear dry, don’t allow water go inside while bath & stop using ear bud to clean ear it will push wax much deeper hard to remove .
You can use neosporin & cloderm cream both, it will decrease infection & inflammation.
