What Causes Irritation At The Opening Of Penis?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Sep 2015
Question: I have had some irritation on my penis opening for 3 days. It doesnt hurt, it is just very sensitive. Also, i had a slight pain in my pelvic area, now there is a red bump there. Im concerned it may be herpes. My questions are. Is it possible to have irritation with no visable sores and still be herpes? Also, after the red bump, how long until it would turn into a blister?

Brief Answer:
An examination and blood tests can confirm the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your anxiety.
If the redness is recent, and you never saw it earlier, you should get it examined.
An Urologist will examine and advise you regarding possible condition and tests.
The photos show inflammatory changes at the opening. Herpes is unlikely.
You should be able to overcome your anxiety, and clear your doubts.
If you've had unprotected sex, see the doctor with following blood reports.
Get blood tests like, creatinine, sugar, VDRL, HbSAg, and HIV done.
Till you see the doctor, maintain good penile hygiene.
Get well soon.

How long until the redness would become a blister if it were herpes? Also, what are some things that may cause this? Can my anxiety cause me to have aches and pains down there?

Brief Answer:
See a doctor and get examined.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Anxiety can't cause redness over the tip of penis, but can delay healing period.
Only in cases of STD, need you worry about Herpes.
Genital Herpes appears very different from your photos.
Once blisters form over the genitalia, it takes 2-3 weeks for it fall off and then dry and crust formation.
The doctor will confirm with the tests and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your doubts are cleared.
