                                    Brief Answer:
Proper hydration is important.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Your son probably has contracted a gastrointestinal infection which has given him both the fever as well as the loose motion. The mainstay of management would be to give him ORS (oral rehydration solution) to make up for the lost water and salts. Whenever there is rise of temperature you need to give paracetamol or meftal-p (minimum interval of 6 hours). Also give tepid sponging.
I would not stop you from visiting a doctor but treatment with antibiotics is not essential unless associated with bloody diarrhea (dysentery) and irrespective of use of antibiotics it will take 3-5 days to recover.
Regards

                                    Brief Answer:
Possible
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Indeed it is possible for your son to get a viral fever from the other child. However, these viruses are anywhere and therefore anyone could get such an ailment.
