Question : I recently had strep throat. I took the penicillin shot . Day 2 days have passed and I've noticed the inside of my penis has began peeling and it looks very irritated, loosing color too . I have no pain . And I'm uncircumcised. I haven't been active sexy XXXXXXX with my wife since . And I've been washing twice a day with warm water only . Could this be a side effect to the shot ?

Hi,

More likely to be balanoposthitis if this has appeared only on the inside of penis - the glans and foreskin. It may be due to side of penicillin shot; but would have appeared elsewhere also. A dermatologist consult will differentiate between the two conditions.

If , it is possibly balanoposthitis, the effective treatment is as follows:
Clean the area with plain water 2 to 4 times a day and and keep it dry with a pure cotton cloth or a dryer.
you may apply liquid Povidone Iodine locally or a Metronidazole cream- nothing else at all. We have seen no results with any other solution, cream or ointment. So do not try anything else; if you are using any, please stop it.

A course of antibiotic with metrogyl orally for 5 to 7 days should help you to get a cure. You can get your Blood Sugar checked.

Visit a dermatologist and discuss about the conditions and my treatment plan.
