What Causes Itching And Irritation On The White Part Of Eye?

Question: My male friend suddenly developed swelling of the white part of his eye around the pupil- looks gelatinous. no vision problems, no bleeding. did not noticibly injure it but was rubbing it. is tearing and feels itchy and irritated

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your friend is having sudden onset of watering, itching, irritation and swelling of the white part of the eye. This indicates a acute allergic respone.
I usually treat conditions like this by use of artificial tears eye drops, antiallergic eye drops and cold wash.
The condition usually resolves by 1-2 days.
