What Causes Itching Sensation In Eyes And Groin Area Post Unprotected Sex?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Question: I met this 19 year old girl at a bar in Tbilisi, XXXXXXX I made sure she was of legal age. We had sex many times over the course of a few days. I noticed she would discharge a lot, i thought this was because she was young. Anyway I always used a condom. She, however, gave me blowjob a couple of times and I discharged in her mouth.

Today, a month later she informs me on email that she has Gonorrhea for the past 6 months. She has not gotten tested as it is expensive and carries shame. She says has lots of discharge, brown blood. She has had no blood test or gone to a doctor. She is convinced it is Gonorrhea.

She told me she has had 5 partners in the past year of which 2 she has had unprotected sex with.

Its been almost 30 days since I had sex with her. I have not faced any problems. I just have itchy eyes , no redness. Have I gotten the STD as well?
Actually I do have red itchy eyes a few days now. Also I have a lot of itch on my groin area,, on my crotch area.. not on testicles but the area of side of legs next pelvic area.

Brief Answer:
I am hoping that condom saved you

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Well sir, the first thing I would like you to know is that gonorrhoea has an incubation period of about 2-5 days, but many times it may take up to a month for symptoms to appear. Symptoms include:

+Sore throat
+Burning sensation while urinating
+Abdominal pain
+Frequent urination
+Discharge from the penis
+Pain during intercourse
and a few others.

Also important to note is that this girl had gonorrhoea during your sexual encounter with her, but your saving grace was the condom you used to have vaginal intercourse with her.

In my opinion, you might just have been saved from transmission of gonorrhoea; but I would also like to add that most men who have gonorrhoea do not exhibit symptoms, which is why I would like you to go ahead with testing for gonorrhoea, but I am seriously hoping that condom saved you.

Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Dear Dr. Shoaib, Assalam Alaikum, Thank you very much doctor.

I live in a country where I cannot get checked for STD. If it is discovered positive they normally deport the individual. I am visiting Pakistan after 3 weeks. Will it be too late to get a test done?

Question 1. Meanwhile, Is there any antibiotic that I can purchase and take as a precaution against Gnorhea and Clamydia.

I have Medaclav 625 (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) home - 20 tablets
I also have Gloclav 1 g (Amoxicillin and Clavulante FCT USP 1g) 14 tablets home.

Normally Antibiotics are easily available here. Please advise.

Question 2: - I am married man with a 2.5 year old baby. Should I separate my bed and stay away from my wife and baby? Fortunately they are away on vacations for the past one month and are scheduled to return next week.
Can I kiss my baby? Can I kiss my wife.

My situation.

+Sore throat - NO, Slight runny and itchy nose a few days. Watery eyes.
+Burning sensation while urinating - Nothing out of the ordinary
+Abdominal pain- None , but headaches
+Frequent urination - i drink a lot of water, so nothing out of ordinary.
+Discharge from the penis - Nothing I have noticed.
+Pain during intercourse - None.
and a few others.

_ I have itchy eyes (which goes away ) after I wash them and use a drop.
I also have Zinnat tablets 500 mg ( Cefuroxime axetil) - 10 tablets
and augmentin 1 g

Brief Answer:
Please feel free and comfortable to write to me about anything

Detailed Answer:
Walaikumassalam sir.

I am extremely sorry for the delay, I sometimes have extremely busy days at work. It will not be too late to get the tests done sir, because as long as you have contracted the infection you will require treatment earlier or later. If at all you do start having symptoms then please keep in touch with me and report all the symptoms and any presentation you experience until you can get in touch with your doctor in Pakistan.

You can try to get your hands on cefixime 400 mg, to be taken orally once. Both the antibiotics you have may not be effective enough, and as antibiotics are easily available where you live, it should not be a problem to get one tablet, hopefully.

Take this antibiotic for now, and then you can kiss your wife and child once they return, but it would be best to avoid sexual intercourse with your wife until we can get a few tests done.

Sir, you are currently not exhibiting the typical symptoms of gonorrhoea or chlamydia so there should be nothing to worry about, but please do not hesitate to keep in touch with me and report even the slightest of developments.

Which drops are you using sir?

Best wishes.

I am using regular eye drops. I usually have very itchy eyes early in the morning and later towards the night. This morning I felt like gouging out the eyes. Please advise what should I take for this?

Do I only take one tablet or can I take more of the Cefixime 400 mg? Shouldn't i complete a course?

Please advise the test to take as well once I am Pakistan? If, Allah forbid, I am infected will the situation worsens in three weeks?
Do I also take azithromycin (2* 500 mg)

Brief Answer:
Take CIPLOX-D eye drops sir

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

I would recommend eye drops called CIPLOX-D (with the active ingredients ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone). Put 2 drops three times a day for 3-5 days and let me know how you feel.

As for the cefexime, it is a pre-emptive course of management as you are not exhibiting any symptoms. But if you feel like taking a course of treatment for gonorrhoea even without the symptoms being seen or a test confirming the diagnosis, I can help you with that also as I understand that our main aim is to prevent this from spreading to the family at all costs; so please let me know and I can help with that. If not, then take one tablet of cefexime 400 mg.

I will give you a course of azithromycin if you decide to take an entire course. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes sir.

Hi Thank you for your reply. I went to the pharmacy before I saw your answer and purchased

Naphcon-A. (Naphazoline Hydrochloride and Pheniramine Maleate) Sterline Opthalmic Solution. The pharmacist said use two drops in each eyes every 3 hours.

Please advise if I could use this or buy Ciplox-D. I have no issues getting Ciplox-D.

2. I purchased Cefim 400(Cefixime Capsules ) 400 Mg - 6 capsules
and Azi-once Azithpromysin250 mg - 6 capsules.

I can purchase more.

Please advise how I can take full course. How many to take, how many times a day and for how many days. After or before food. Does this contradict with my blood pressure and high uric acid tablets ( Coveram 10mg/5 mg 2 tablets in the morning and zyloric 300 mg before bed). I also take some ayuverdic medicine for cholesterol..

I want to get better. I will take full course.

Brief Answer:
Following are my suggestions

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

If the Naphcon-A is helping you and receiving you of your symptoms then you need not shift to Ciplox-D, but if it is not then you can try the ciplox-D. The decision is left up to you now. :)

2. If you wish a complete course then here are my instructions:

A. Take 1 tablet of the cerium 400 mg tablet once a day after breakfast
B. Take 500 mg of azithromycin as the first dose on the first day after breakfast
C. Thereafter, take azithromycin 250 mg tablet should be taken once a day for about 5 more days after breakfast

No sir, they will not interfere with your other medications, do not worry.

Please feel free ti write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
You can sleep in the same bed; avoid sexual contact

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Sorry I didn't see your question come in, I am travelling back and so have been busy wrapping my vacation up. :)

You can indeed sleep with your family in the same bed and room, kissing also should be fine but I would advise against sexual intercourse until we can get your tested and rule out all STDs completely.

Chances of you having an STD at this point does seem unlikely but I would either way like to be sure as you should not take chances in such matters.

I may take a day or so to reply if at all you have any further questions as I will be reaching home some time tomorrow afternoon.

Best wishes.
