The treatment for you would be to take diphenhydramine or loratidine to help stop the itch. If that does not help then I recommend you be seen in an urgent care center for injection of adrenalin and possible steroids. These injections will help stop the itch almost immediately.

With hives we frequently never find out the actual cause but the more common causes are peanuts and sea food. I would recommend you avoid nuts and sea foods in the future. You may also need to keep a food diary to see what foods may cause your hives.
