What Causes Itchy Rashes On Knees, Elbows And Ears?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Apr 2016
Question: Good day! My 24 year daughter woke up this morning with an itchy rash on her body. It is all over but in select spots like her knees, in between her thighsm butt, elbow, elbow crease, eyelid, ear, and back of neck. She did not eat or drink anything different yesterday. She has been taking Solodyn for about a month now. She has no other symptoms, just the rash.
I look forward to your input.

Brief Answer:
It can be most likely an allergic rash (urticaria).

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your daughter's problem can be most likely an allergic rash ( urticaria ). This can be from some allergen she has exposed. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful in identifying.

Is she having any fever or throat pain. ?

Taking antihistamines like cetrizine ( zyrtec ) once daily or benadryl twice to thrice daily will be helpful for this. You can also apply calamine lotion locally.

If there is no improvement then she may need a short course of corticosteroids like methyl prednisolone. In such case you can approach your GP.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
