What Causes Itchy Red Rashes On Inner Thighs And Near Armpits?

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Dec 2014
Question: Within the last two weeks, an itchy red rash has appeared on the inside of each leg above the knees. It seems to be calming down. Today, the same red, itchy rash appeared on the back of both of my arms, near the arm pit as well as the underside of each forearm. Seems to react well to lavendar oil in terms of the itch but does nothing to reduce the slightly bumpy red patches. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
This could be allergy related. Please, send to us an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this rash that you have described. The information is suggestive of a possible allergic reaction or maybe and infection. I will suggest that you send an image to us for review so that we can make personalized and helpful suggestions on how to address this.

Allergy related rash would often persist until the cause of this is identified and eliminated from the environment. If there has been any new addition to your cosmetics or body lotion, carefully monitor to make sure that this is not the possible cause.

I look forward to receiving the image from you for further review and any information you may have on any possible allergies. From there, we would make more suggestions and recommendations on how to tackle this fully. I wish you well.

Thank you -

FYI - no new soaps, creams, or detergents. That said, cold weather has set in.

Brief Answer:
This seems more of an allergy! Not infectious!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the three images fully. Thank you so much for attaching them.

They are suggestive of skin reaction and not an infection. The main issue would be the itches but with this spreading to many other parts of the body, you may want to try oral medications such as Benadryl of Zyrtec as they are the mainstay of treatment. With the weather being a lot more colder, try and stay warm, drink enough water and avoid exposing the body.

I hope this helps. Please, update me within a week on the progress of this.
Note: Hope the answers resolves your concerns, however for further guidance of skin related queries consult our Dermatologist.Click here to book a consultation
