Yes, please. I have extreme pain behind my knees. It came on suddenly, about three weeks ago,and I have been suffering with it ever since. It is pain, no matter what my position, and is not in my joints. I have had no trauma to the knees. Aleve or even oxycodone do not take the edge off. I shall anxiously await your opinion. Sincerely, XXXXXXX My email address is YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Recommendation to go to the urgent care

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic,

Sudden onset pain in the posterior knee and calf could be due to rupture of baker's cyst, meniscal/ligament tears, tendonitis, Deep vein thrombosis(blood clot in deep veins of the leg) or referred pain from spinal problems.

Physical examination and investigations like MRI scanning, Doppler studies and blood investigations to rule out blood clot are warranted at this point.

Please be advised to go to the urgent care/ ER for further evaluation and prompt management. Deep vein Thrombosis(DVT) can have serious complications like lung emboli leading to breathing difficulty. It is important to rule out DVT as soon as possible.

Hope I was able to help you,
Please feel free to address further concerns.
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
