What Causes Knee And Thigh Pain?

Posted on Fri, 11 Jul 2014
Question: I am also wondering why it hurts me to get up in a van, walking the beach, sitting on the beach. Sleeping on my left side also makes my back hurt worse. My kids want me to go to Sanibel with them and that is about a 7 hour drive. Sitting for a long time also makes me hurt. I don't think I should go.

I started having problems getting up on a truck in the Bahamas over a year ago. I haven't had a problem getting up into a van until my kids bought one recently. I have had no knee x-rays. No, I cannot squat. I cannot climb stairs very well either, nor can I go down stairs very well, I can only do one step at a time. I hope I answered the questions you asked.

Brief Answer:
This most likely knee arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam,
After reading your case I came to conclusion that you are having both knee arthritis and weak thigh muscles. You can confirm this diagnosis with help of knee x rays. Your knee arthritis and diabetes with all medicines are making thigh muscles weak. In my patient with these problems I would suggest following.
1. Static quadriceps exercises
2. Tablet calcium and vitamin D3 for 6 months.
3. Avoid squatting and cross leg sitting.
4. If on x rays knee arthritis is in advance stage then it will need surgery.
5. Steroid injection can be given for short time pain relief. if you are not willing for surgery.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions.

Thanks
