default
Posted on Fri, 9 Oct 2015
Question: So I have a large hard painful lump under my left butt cheek that I'm assuming is filled with blood and pus because when the swelling goes down I have a orangish discharge randomly from my rectum. When the discharges stop the lump swells and hurts to sit or touch.

Brief Answer:
Local hygeine, antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description , it appears to be a staphylococcal infection of the hair follicle. Other possibilities include peri anal abscess, anal fissure and external hemorrhoids. The area requires examination. If upon visual exam , its evident that the cause is a local bacterial infection then antibiotics can be started empirically after taking culture sensitivity sample of the discharge. If its not too painful then a digital rectal exam should also be performed. Local hygiene including antiseptic povidone and Neosporin should be applied. Keep the area dry. Warm compresses and NSAIDs can help with the pain.
