Posted on Thu, 29 May 2014
Question: Hi I had my periods on the 18th of March. Had unprotected sex on 29th march. Took postino within 24hrs. Bleed for about 3-4days starting 7th April. Since then I haven't still got my periods. Can you advise? Did a home pregnancy test which was negative few days ago.

Brief Answer:
Early is the vaginal bleeding is the side effect

Detailed Answer:
Hi there I have read your query.
One of the side effects of postinor is early breakthrough bleeding. Since you already bled in April it is very unlikely that you are pregnant.
And since in this month your menses are delayed, it is all due to the disturbance in the hormonal axis.
In another few days if you still do not get periods take ( medroxyprogesterone 10 mg) tablet for five days under the guidance of a specialist. After that you have to wait for a few days for the bleeding to occur.
And there is nothing to get tensed about it
If you still have any query I am there to answer
Take care

Hi when withdrawal bleeding happens, does it reset the menstrual cycle . Day one as withdrawal bleeding day 1. This time withdrawal bleeding was bit heavy then wat I have previously encountered.

Brief Answer:
cycle will be normal in 1-2 months

Detailed Answer:
You should wait for two months for normal cycle. The reason is that the programmed generation of female hormones depends upon GnRH levels.
