Question: Hello doctor,
I missed my periods this month. It's been over two weeks. I had my last periods on the 18th of September.. I started having sex with my boyfriend from December last year.. I had sex twice in January that too unprotected one and took ipills both the time..I then missed my periods in January, took pregnancy tests they showed negative, still we consulted a gyno who prescribed me abortional pills that is three mifigest, so I got some bleeding that month, then in February I had sex again, and missed my periods again and took ipill and missed my periods, then in march I had sex again but that was unprotected and took ipill so there was a little bleeding, then in April I missed my periods again so I consulted my gyno again, my pregnancy tests were negative, he suggested me blood test, thyroid test, and ultrasound test, but none of them showed pregnancy, he prescribed me restrogen and said when I start to bleed I need to take ocps so I bleeded after taking restrogen and got periods in may, took ocps and bleeded in XXXXXXX that too twice cz whenever I use to forget taking ocps I use to bleed.. I then quit taking ocps from July because I feared taking them and I feared bleeding twice in a month. I had unprotected sex and then again took an ipill and bleeded in July and missed my periods in august and then took restrogen in September, bleeded again, and then this October I had sex again and since August we are having protected sex always but again I got no periods in October .. I took home pregnancy test after two weeks but it showed negative. I took restrogen again for consecutive five days and today is the third day after five days there is no bleeding. Pregnancy tests are negative. I have little cramps in abdomen and severe headache and back ache. Before I started having sex my periods were very regular. But now they just don't happen. I am very tensed and I am always in a depression. Please help me. Please.

Brief Answer:
Wait for another 3-4days,you will have your period

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam,

I have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

You seem to have an unsafe sex practice all the while since almost a year.

This could prove unhealthy in the long run.

Coming to your issue, let me assure you that you will soon get your period in 3-4 days XXXXXXX as you have already taken 3 days of restrogen.
The cramping could indicate the oncoming periods.
So you need not be depressed.

Your menstrual cycle is grossly disturbed and reset due to the intake of ipills ,mifigest, ocps and restrogen.

It has lost the natural hormonal regulation.

From here on i would like to strongly advise you to have a safe and protected sex with your boyfriend.

Such healthy behaviour would only prevent you from taking OCP's.

If you adopt this healthy method, there is a high chance that your cycles normalize in 5-6months from here on.

Frequent administration of i pills can lead to ectopic pregnancy.

Hope i have answered your query,
Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.

Well I know that there must be some kind of hormonal balance. And that's why periods don't happen. There's another thing that happens like if last month I had my periods on 18th.. I get cramps in this month too.. The one that happens before periods. But I kept waiting it's more than two weeks. There's no sign of periods. Why does it happen? And how do I regulate my periods?
Why is it that if I have sex, my periods they just don't happen, even if it's safe. Like past three months I have had sex in protected way.

Brief Answer:
Large degree of hormonal imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,Madam,

The menstrual irregularity in your case is largely due to the effects of pills you have been taking since january this year.

Its not because of frequent sexual activity.

Hormonal imbalance in your case seems quite severe.

Its takes at least 6 months to normalize.

There seems to large degree of dissociation between the pattern of cramps and onset menses since more than 2 weeks elapsed as per your recent history.

In such a case i advise you to have a an ultrasound abdomen to detect the uterine status along with hormonal study-LSH and FSH levels to degree of hormonal imbalance and assess the time period of recovery.

Despite everything i expect your period in the following week with no further delay.

Thank you.
