What Causes Left Flank Pain And Burning Sensation In Urethra?

I have left flank pain (kidney I'm sure) and sometimes on right side too, I've had it for about 5 years and have had 2 ct scans which both came back negative and an ultrasound scan too. I also have a burning pain in urethra but NOT when urinating & urine is not infected. I have IBS and think the pain is more noticeable when I'm constipated. I've also been diagnosed with vitamin d deficiency and am slightly anaemic (tho ferritin is normal). Any ideas?

Hi,Dear Good Morning form XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query to HCM at My virtual Clinic.
I studied your query in depth and understood your following Concerns.
I would advise you to give some info as follows-
Please update if you had any outside food lately before this left flank pain?
Get stool and urine micro tests done by concentration method- if not done.
Update these reports before I advise specific treatments besides the following treatment suggestions-
-Don't feel that Your left flank pain is related with Kidney, only because it is associated with urethritis?
-Your burning pain in urethra is mostly due to associated Interstitial Cystitis, as your urine is not infected and your CT scans and USG scans are normal.
So don't worry of left flank pain as it is not due to your kidney problem
*Take plenty of fluids 2-3 liters per day and it will resolve.
*Take alkaline mixture-any OTC product x 3 times a day,if it does not recover with plenty of fluids.
*Add up Vit E -4oo mg 1 capsule x od x 1 mth.
*Take plenty of -Skimmed butter milk x 2 times per day.

Small and frequent feeds
Tab Loperamide 1 tab x 2 times x 5 days time(OTC)
Consult your family physician to treat your anemia after the complete blood tests.
In short your conception about left flank pain is wrong and its mostly due to acute on chronic colitis due to IBS causing non-specific urethritis and burning urination with it.
Hope this would resolve your query for the left flank pain.
