Question : my left nipple has tenderness. it started right before Thanksgiving last year. i went to see my dr. and got a mammogram. Every thing was good but two mos. later tenderness is still there. It does not hurt, just the tenderness, only the left nipple not the breast. Any clues about what my options are. What kind of Dr. should i see. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!

Hello

I understand your concerns about nipple tenderness.

I am happy that you got mammogram done to rule out cancer possibility. That puts many worries to rest.

Left nipple tenderness is due to inflammation of tissue below nipple or ducts below nipple.

This inflammation can be easily treated by a course of antibiotics. But first it needs to be examined by a surgeon.

Hence I suggest you to see a surgeon soon and get examined as well as get a prescription for suitable antibiotics. This will heal soon.
