Question : I have left side chest pain, about at the 8th rib. Increase pain on coughing or sneezing. I had back surgery 5 weeks ago. Pain started about 2 weeks post op and has gotten worse. Ortho surgeon told me it has nothing to do with the surgery.

I can understand your concern

As you explain the history if you were my patient i would recommend you to do a chest X Ray for evaluating the lungs.

It is very important to exlude the lung infection in such conditions.

If it will come positive than antibiotics are indicated.
