Question : I had a no scalpel vasectomy performed 7 days ago. My right side feels completely normal but the left side has pain and a distinct line of tissue running to the incision is the source of pain. I saw my urologist who didn't feel it was concerning to him and I should wait another week or two to see if things change. The tissue is connected at the incision site and actually makes the left side of my scrotum hang higher at the incision. I am a surgeon myself so am fairly confident it is the vas or sheath caught at the incision site. Is this something that should be corrected or will the pain eventually go away with time?

Brief Answer:
Inflammation at surgical site will resolve over a weeks time.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can certainly understand your concern.

As you're a surgeon, it should be easier for you to understand, that inflammation at a surgical site, even if it's a minor surgery, varies from site to site, in the same person. After examination of the vasectomy site, your Urologist asked to wait for a week or so, because, any inflammatory tissue changes, take that time to reduce.

It would be advisable for you to use a scrotal support or keep it elevated, so that the edema, if present, should resolve quicker.

As you doubt there's part of vas or sheath in the surgical site, you should recall, that after vasectomy, the divided vas is dropped back inside, and then only is the skin sutured. So use an analgesic- anti-inflammatory tablet, if you find the pain is more.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
