Question : I woke up with pain on the left side of my abdomen below the ribs. Never had it before.

Can be from ribs/ back or lung. If persists x- ray and ekg advisable

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient.

Most likely this is musculoscelettal and ibuprofene and local warmth will help. However, in your case i would usually rule out pleurisy or other lung condition with an x ray of the lungs and heart condition with ekg if this persists, especially when pain increases through physical activity.
