What Causes Left-sided Pain In The Chest?

Posted on Tue, 23 May 2017
Question: 30 year old male, 240lbs.

Just curious, i had a sharp left chest pain occurance about 15 minutes ago. Along the drive home, i felt, just a few times, an aching in the same area that would filter to my left elbow. This hasnt happened frequently between then and now, buf enough to warrant me asking you. The times in the past that this happened, i went to an ER or urgent care and everytime, the ekg came back totally normal and the pain went away. The docs thought it was possibly gastric related, which considering that lately ive kind of let my diet go, im hoping thats what this is.

Being that im 30, does this sound cardiac or gastric?

Brief Answer:
Doesn't look like a cardiac pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After going through the medical query mentioned by you I would like to tell you that your discomfort doesn't seem to be a cardiac issue as every time your ecg was normal.
Yes this type of discomfort can happen in case of gastritis or simply it can be just a muscle soreness.

However if you want to be on a sure side I would like to advice you to go for a echocardiography and TMT to rule of any coronary artery disease.

And importantly stop smoking if you do.

I hope this information will answer your query. Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts.

Kind regards

Understood doctor. I will set an appt with a family doctor. I went to my doctors for something unrelated a few days ago and they noted lower blood pressure. Along with a mild lightheadedness thats has come on (which my doctors think is allergic related). Im just curious of the likelihood of a heart attack or something at 30 years old .

Brief Answer:
Allergy can cause a low bp due to vasodilation

Detailed Answer:
In my personal experience I have seen and treated youngsters of age 20 coming with a heart attack so age is not a barrier in the present era.

But in your case your symptoms are not pointing towards a cardiac disease but still to be sure I have advised you to do TMT and a Echocardiography done.

Hope this information will be helpful.

Kind regards
