What Causes Light Spotting Along With Stabbing Pain In My Vagina Post LAVH?

Question: I am 4 weeks post lavh. I felt great the first 2.5 weeks post with little to no discharge, pain, etc. Then I started to have light spotting, mainly on tissue when wiping. Two days ago, I had a stabbing pain up my vagina when finishing urinating. The pain begin subsiding as soon as it began and was over within 5 mins. I had more bleeding/spotting for a few hours after but seems to be fine now. Is this normal or should I have this checked out? On top of this, I developed a head cold with coughing. My abdomen is very sore which i am assuming is from the coughing. Should I be concerned that I have done any damage?

Brief Answer:
Wait for 2 weeks more for normalcy to settle in.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Upto 6 weeks following a procedure such as LAVH, it is normal to feel a few aches , pains, soreness, spotting etc.
I think you should wait for 2 more weeks.
Do not give heed to an occasional bout of pain / spotting.
If there is significant bleeding ( you need to change pads every 3 - 4 hours for a day or more ) , then you should consult your surgeon.
Also, if the pain is persistent and interferes with daily activity, that should be looked at .
Certain amount of soreness over the abdomen is also normal, it could be precipitated by the cough.
Try and take more rest than you would have normally done at this stage.
I do not think you have done any damage.
If you have not had a follow up visit with your surgeon, schedule one in a couple of weeks.
If you have already had one, and it was all clear, then have a further visit only if the above symptoms arise.
What was the indication for the LAVH, by the way ?
Take care.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Detailed Answer:
Okay, thank you for the update.
Give yourself 2 more weeks as I said earlier, for your body to come back to some place close to what it was before.
HOwever, that said, do not ignore any incapacitating / persistent pain or good amount of bleeding.
Rest will help.
Particularly, avoid lifting heavy weights or assuming odd postures.
Dont stretch your abdominal muscles much at this stage.
I am sure you would be fine.
