Question : For the last couple of months, I have been getting lines on my forehead that last approximately 30-45 minutes. They are not painful and sometimes I dont even notice they are there until someone mentions it. They typically accompany a mild headache and look like cat scratches although they do not itch or feel uncomfortable in any way. When my headache subsides, the lines fade rather quickly. They always show up in the same place, either on the left or right side of my forehead and run vertically from the hairline to the eyebrow. I will attach a picture. I am not on any medications but I do have a history of very sensitive skin and do notice I will break out in hives for no reason and am more sensitive during my period. I am 43 years old.

Brief Answer:
Benign skin changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The lines on the forehead that you have mentioned can be due to a sensitive skin or a local vasodilatation. An allergic reaction like dermatitis can also cause such lines to appear.
These are benign changes in the skin and these do not have any long tern effects. You can decrease the lines by rubbing ice on these. Applying calamine lotion will also be helpful.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you so much for your response. Although I have always had very senstive skin, it seems as though this issue may have escalated a few months ago after completing a fairly high dose of amoxicillian. Within days of ending the 10 day 2000 mg./day prescription, I had a really bad case of rash/hives and since then have been hypersensitive. In your opinion, is dermatitis an immune system issue? Do you have any recommendations to help alleviate the frequency or decrease the sensitivity? It's to the point that even showering is enough to make an irritation.

Brief Answer:
Allergic dermatitis can be due to an immune system issue.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Allergic dermatitis can be due to an immune system issue. This can be aggravated by medicines like Amoxycillin.
To decrease the sensitivity avoid extreme temperature changes avoid taking bath with very hot water. You can also take anti allergics like Fexofenadine to decrease the rashes.
Regards.
