Brief Answer:
Multifactorial, needs work up and evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Arm pit hair are hormonal dependant and their loss with increasing age is normal due to reduced hormonal flow specially androgens and pituitary ones.

Apart from it nutritional decline also occurs as all body organs are reduced in their function and nutritional status decline may lead to hair loss as well.

Apart from it hypothyroidism is another common cause at old age for such hair loss from armpit and pubis.

Another rare cause is hypopituitarism which is reduction of all pituitary hormones and need further evaluation for the cause.

Nutshell it is mostly hormonal. get your hormonal assays done and talk to a dermatologist in this regard. They will sort it out for you and label you with the cause and then treat your accordingly.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
