Brief Answer:
Good Morning and Welcome to HealthCareMagic

Detailed Answer:
I completely understand your frustration, and I want to assure you that this is ok!

Your body needs time to rest, rejuvenate, rebuild muscles from work-outs. From my experience, the best way to handle your day off is:
1. Acceptance
2. Spend this day doing other healthy activities such as Yoga, stretching, hot tubs, pampering yourself, getting a manicure, practicing relaxation exercises and "forgiving yourself" for blaming yourself for taking one day off from a healthy regimen. So make your day off a healthy regimen.
3. Assure yourself that you are taking in all nutrients for healthy maintenance and for rebuilding secondary to your training regimen.
4. You did not mention your diet at all, how you eat or any supplements you take. You may need more protein - hard to make any recommendations in this area since I know little about you.

I do know you are pre-diabetic with high blood pressure. I highly recommend a methymalonic acid (MMA) test for B12 levels. Not a B12 blood test, but exactly what I recommended. Research has shown that there is a clear association between B12 deficiency and diabetes and this is aside from the drug Metformin used to treat diabetes. A B12 deficiency will contribute to tiredness and will also prevent your folic acid from being used since it is caught in a "trap" as it needs B12 to work. An MMA test is specific for B12 deficiency unlike a related homocysteine test which will point out other metabolic abnormalities including B12.

Also, you may feel better with small frequent meals, high protein in am, largest meal at noon, a hypoallergenic multivitamin, try lowering sodium to see if it helps the blood pressure - 2300 mg sodium/day. I have had patients go off medication when they reduced sodium (salt sensitive patient).

I would probe for sleep apnea but you feel fine until you have your day of rest.

Thank you for writing and I would be happy to follow up with you. It is almost 10 am here Eastern Standard Time. I will be available for any clarification you need after 2pm my time or in 4 hours from now.

If this answer is acceptable, please close out the question and rate it. Healthy Regards, XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN
