I understand you have lost your taste sensations when you eat food. Can you provide any details such as when this began, are you losing weight as a result, any recent sinus infections or allergies?

A loss of your sense of taste is called dysgeusia. Nutritionally, I would treat with zinc if sinus infections are ruled out. Zinc gluconate 285 mg (50 mg elemental zinc) is used to relieve dysgeusia for all causes except from chemotherapy. I would treat for three months only after seeing progress during the first month.

Most dysgeusia cases, if not caused by zinc deficiency, are a result of another disease process, most commonly sinus congestion.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you need further clarification, please write me on followup. Otherwise, kindly close and rate your query. Most Sincerely, XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN
