Brief Answer:
The likely reason is hypertrophied adenoids or tonsils

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns but don't worry. Loud and regular nightly snoring along with heavy breathing is often abnormal in otherwise healthy children.

Sometimes it is a sign of a enlarged adenoids, tonsils, Obesity, respiratory infection, a stuffy nose or allergy; other times it may be a symptom of sleep apnea.

All these conditions are treatable. So, I would recommend you to take him to an ENT surgeon for proper clinical examination to rule out enlarged adenoids or tonsils. The definitive diagnosis will help in proper intervention required.

In case, the child has obesity, then physical exercise will be useful along with dietary modifications.

If there is any associated allergic tendency, then kindly elaborate so that I may help you out.

Take care.
