What Causes Low TSH Levels After Increasing The Dosage Of Thyronorm?

I have high TSH most of times and was on thyronorm 50 for past 2 years. I am 5ft tall and weigh aprox 53 kg. Around 2 months back my TSH report showed that it was 5.04.
I wrote on HCM, and I was suggested to increase the dose to 62.5, which I did and took it for 2 months. After getting repeat test done, the TSH level is now 0.51
Can you pl. suggest the course of action. I will be in US for nearly 6 months from now and will not be able to take repeated tests easily.
Thanks in advance,
XXXXX
You need to take 50 and 25 micrograms alt.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Your TSH got low probably because of the rise in the dose of the medicine.
Usually we don't increase the dose that thr TSH level of around 6.
Anyways now you should start taking 50 microgram and 25 micrograms alternate days.
You would require to get your TSH levels repeated after at least 2 months.
Further dose would be decided on the levels.
Don't get the frequent testing done but get it atleast after 2 months in US and write back to me.

Thanks much for the reply.
Yes I am married with a 4 year old daughter. I had high TSH level during my pregnancy and had to manage with a dose of 88 mcg then. I am 37 now and in a delima to go ahead with another child. I will get back to you regarding my reports in 2 months again to seek your opinion.
Another query was - I have heard that patients with high thyroid should take calcium supplements. Is it true ? If yes, whats the suggested dosage.
Thanks in advance,
XXXXX
Yes you should take.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Yes you have heard that right. People taking Thyroxine should take Calcium supplement in a dose of around 1000 mg per day.
You can buy Cap Gemcal D3 available in the market which in a single dose contains around 1000 mg of calcium along with Vitamin D3. Take the supplement for 2 months then you may just take Vitamin D3 60K once weekly.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
